Let Me Translate Your Games!

Posted October 10, 2024

Okay, a few of you might know that I’m not just a gamedev, but also a translator (EN ⇄ DE, JP → EN, JP → DE). And in an effort to bring both of those skillsets together, I’m now actively looking for games to translate!

Being a gamedev myself obviously means that I know my way around source code and design docs, and I can also help with implementation of localization in various engines. Need a tool developed to help with translation? No problem! (Except for the bugs that will pop up, but I’ll be squashing those until they’re not a problem anymore.)

And speaking of tools, I’ve recently developed some scripts that helped me translate a 50k+ word Ink game project, and now I’m looking for more of those to translate so I can battle-harden my tools! I think it’s a shame that games that rely so heavily on text are stuck in one language, so I’m doing my part to solve the long-standing issue of localizing Ink games.

So if you have a game, big or small or tiny, hit me up! I’m very flexible with rates and know the plights of an indie developer, so just reach out and we’ll take it from there. You can contact me via my socials, via Discord or go the real official route and send me a message via my translation website Translation++. It’s all just me, so pick whatever works best for you!

Streets of Rage 2 Design Docs

POST | | #Ramblings #Translation #Mega Drive

A few years ago, Yuzo Koshiro posted a pile of old game design documents for Bare Knuckle 2 aka Streets of Rage 2 on the Ancient blog to commemorate the release of Streets of Rage 2 3D on the Nintendo 3DS. These documents gave a deep insight into the game’s inner workings, technical aspects, designs and even some cut content. They were an awesome resource for one of the most awesome games ever created.
